Moving and Handling (Manual Handling plus Moving People)

This is an introductory course to Moving & Handling. It is designed to keep you and your colleagues safe when moving items or people in your workplace. In some workplaces such as hospitals and nursing homes it is common to have to move people who have limited mobility. Injuries associated with manual handling are common in the nursing profession because there is so much lifting of people required. That is why it's very important to be trained in manual handling techniques.

Typically in one year almost 40% of injuries lasting more than 3 days are caused by poor manual handling.

This course covers manual handling regulations on the basics of lifting and lowering loads, as well as pushing and pulling trolleys and other mechanical aids and equipment. It also includes guidance for moving people such as assisted stands, slides and hoists.
